Speaker of Parliament Salim al-Jubouri received in his office on Monday, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), Mohammed Ali Al-Hakim, as they discussed the political and security situations in Iraq, Mosul liberation battle, displaced statues and the international support for Iraq.

Al-Jubouri congratulated Al-Hakim for his position as Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations for the first time in Iraq’s history, adding that his position in a prestigious UN-organization such as ESCWA is considered a sign that Iraq restored his leading position among the international organizations, and Iraq is finally recovering and the next phase requires everyone’s efforts.

On the other hand, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations thanked the Parliament Speaker for his contribution in passing many laws that will positively improve the Iraqi citizens’ lives.
