Foreign Relations Secretary of the General People’s Congress (GPC) Dr. Bashir Adam Rahma, said that Al-Turabi’s visit to Doha on Monday was in order to participate in seminars. He confirmed in a statement to Arabstoday that Al-Turabi will be meeting the President of the World Federation of Muslim Scholars Sheikh, Yusuf Qaradawi, denying any proposed initiatives to bring about a renewal of amicable relations between the Islamists in Sudan. However, Rahma added: “Since the Sudanese have indeed become a global focus, he will try to tackle this issue with whoever he meets in Qatar.” He pointed out that Doha will now focus its efforts on the enforcement provisions of the Doha agreement that was signed last year under the auspices of Qatar, this will be in preparation for an international donors' conference for financial contribution to achieve development. Rahma assured that his party insists on working with other opposition parties to change the regime. The Deputy of Al-Turabi, Dr. Abdullah Hassan Ahmed, described Al-Turabi’s relationships with Qatar as historically old and renewed. He added in a statement to Arabstoday that Al-Turabi has a good relationship with the Prince of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa, and his Foreign Minister, Hamad bin Jassim, who previously tried to resolve disputes between the Islamists in Sudan after the famous division in 1999. He revealed that Al-Turabi is going to participate in seminars on Islamic movements and revolutions of the Arab Spring.
