Chairman of the Al-Wafd party, Al-Said Al-Badawy, has said that the party decided to re-discuss the decision to support former minister of information Mansour Hassan in the presidential elections. Al-Badawy said that Al-Wafd will vote again during the next Supreme Council meeting, as well as at the party’s parliamentary council meeting, after some of the party members have been openly protesting since Thursday against Hassan’s candidacy. The contestants said in an official statement that Al-Badawi had promised that the decision over the presidential candidate would be subjected to extensive talks in the Supreme Council, and demanded that more Council’s members attend the next meeting. However, the majority of Al-Wafd party in the Supreme Council has agreed to support Mansour Hassan against Amr Moussa, with 33 votes in favour out of 63.
