Arab foreign ministers will meet in Cairo on September 4-5 to discuss a host of issues topped by the Syrian conflict, talks that will be preceded by a preparatory meeting by the permanent representatives two days earlier. Deputy Arab League Secretary General Ahmad ben Helli told reporters on Friday Kuwait’s deputy premier and foreign minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah would hand over the rotating presidency to Lebanon’s foreign minister Adnan Mansour. The ministerial meeting will be discussing 16 items on the agenda, foremost means of addressing the Syrian crisis, said ben Helli. He added the agenda also included Palestine and the Arab-Israeli conflict, the political developments of the Palestinian cause, reviving the Arab peace initiative, occupied Jerusalem, Jewish settlements, the Israeli separation barrier, the Palestinian refugees and Palestinian intifadha. The Arab boycott of Israel, Arab water security, Israel’s stealing of water in occupied Arab territories, the occupied Syrian Golan Heights and Arab solidarity with Lebanon, he added. Ben Helli said the foreign ministers would also discuss the support to Somalia and Comoros, Euro-Med partnership, Arab-European dialogue, relations between Arab countries on one side and region and international organizations on the other, Arab-African cooperation and many issues of common interest.
