Amr Moussa, the Former Secretary-General of the Arab League and a candidate for Egypt's presidential elections, has called the League to discuss sending Arab troops to Syria. When asked by reporters, on the sidelines of the opening of the "Reform and Transition to Democracy" conference in Beirut, about his opinion on withdrawing Arab observers from Syria, he replied, "that depends on the reports of the Arab League mission.” He pointed out that, “the situation in Syria is severe, and rivers of blood do not bode well.” He called for putting “an end to this situation and deal peacefully with citizens.” Moussa said: "We must know that all the Arab world has entered a period of radical change, and there is no need -for some political leaders- to stand in the way of this change ”
