An explosion ripped through a car in the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain al-Hilweh in south Lebanon overnight, security sources told The Daily Star Thursday. They said the device, placed under a four-wheel drive parked in the Hattin neighborhood in the south of the camp, damaged the vehicle but inflicted no casualties. The targeted vehicle belongs to Mansour Azzam, a Palestinian financier who runs several businesses in the camp, added the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity. Azzam also heads the camp's Civil Peace Committee and recently played a key role in reconciling local Fatah commanders Munir Maqdah and Mahmoud Issa, better known as Lino, who had been longstanding antagonists.
