A Chinese archeological expert team will help Myanmar renovate quake-hit ancient pagodas and temples in Bagan, an ancient city in central Myanmar, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Hong Liang told a press conference here on Wednesday.
The team arrived in Bagan on Monday for a week-long visit to study the damaged status of the pagodas and temples in order to help repair them in cooperation with the UNESCO and Myanmar team.
The ambassador said that through helping in the renovation work, the ties between the peoples of China and Myanmar will be enhanced.
A 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit Myanmar on Aug.24, affecting Bagan where 425 ancient pagodas and temples locate, said U Kyaw Oo Lwin, director general of the archeology department of Myanmar.
