Amman – Osama al-Rantissi

For the 19th time, Amman Court of Appeal rejected an appeal by the former Jordanian Intelligence Chief General Mohammed Dahabi submitted by his legal defense team. The court was chaired by Judge Qasim al-Momani and its members were Judge Jamal al-Zoubi and Judge Mohammed al-Damour  who specialises in human rights issues. Amman Criminal Court rejected a request on Monday filed by the defense team, the19th request which was rejected since the arrest of Dahabi on February 9 as part of a money laundering case. It is expected that the defense of Dahabi shall present its data in the case before the Criminal Court of Amman in the hearing session on September 4. Dahabi has recently filed a complaint at Amman's Public Prosecutor against  Brigadier Arafat Abzakh accusing him of perjury in the case. Brigadier in the Intelligence Department, Bassam Budoor accused Dahabi of accepting rewards. This  is the second complaint filed by Dahabi against Abzakh on the backdrop of latter’s testimony before the Criminal Court in case No. 857/2012. The first complaint was filed by Dahabi against Abzakh for looting public funds that reached 250,000 dinars which the latter had received from the former Jordanian Interior Minister Eid al-Fayez and hidding the money without referring it to the Accounting of the Intelligence Department when he was director of the General Intelligence Department. Dahabi was arrested six months ago on charges of money laundering, embezzlement and using his job for personal interests.
