Professor Ibrahim Gumbari, the Head of the Joint-UN-AU Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) will chair the first meeting of the Joint Committee of Doha Peace Document on Darfur next Sunday in Khartoum. UNAMID said in a press statement that the Committee is a tool towards implementation of the articles pertinent to the ceasefire and final security arrangements reached in the Doha Peace Document on Darfur. The Committee comprises representatives of Sudan’s government, Liberation and Justice Movement, the State of Qatar, as well as the Arab League and European Union, the statement added. It also said that the Committee was formed to resolve disputes among the parties, follow up on implementation of the ceasefire agreement and the security arrangements and arbitrate violations and complaints referred by the parties.
