Tunisian parties expressed their disappointment with the Friends of Syria (FOS) conference during a protest held in front of the General Labour Union. The Communist Workers' Party in Tunisia released an official statement saying: “The Syrian people are more capable of achieving their goals under a national leadership rather than under foreign powers that could transform it into a puppet.” The statement added: “We condemn the Ennhada movement's agreement to carry out this conference on Tunisian soil”. The statement also claimed that "the conference aims to achieve an American-Zionist agenda to establish a proxy regime in Syria in order to ensure more security and control for the Zionist entity, isolate the resistance in Lebanon and attack Iran.”
