Inas Abdullah, a Professor at Cairo University’s Faculty of Economics and Political Science, called for bridging the gap between the education and labor market and encouraging the expansion in small and medium projects.
Addressing the UN Economic Commission for Africa’s 32nd expert group meeting, under rubric employing youths and sustainable development in North Africa, Abdullah said there was a need to adopt a national comprehensive strategy for employment and growth.
She encouraged easing the measures of youth loans and training as a means for creating suitable jobs for them.
Up to 60 percent of Egypt’s population from youths under the age of 30 is a great challenge and an opportunity at the same time, Abdullah said, adding around 600-700 thousand youths entered the job market annually.
