The run-offs for the final round of Egypt's Shura Council (upper house) elections began Wednesday at 8am Egyptian time (6am GMT) in the 13 governorates of Giza, Qalyubia, Sharqia, Beheira, Kafr El-Sheikh, Ismailia, Port Said, Suez, Beni Suef, Minya, Sohag, Luxor and Aswan. The first phase of the final round witnessed a low turnout with only a few seats finalised. Twenty-five million citizens are registered to vote in the final round which includes 122,000 candidates, 26,000 polling stations, 921 committees in 11,000 areas supervised by 230 judges and judicial staff members.
