Families of the Lebanese Shia pilgrims abducted May 22 in Syria have announced they will carry out escalatory action to pressure the Lebanese cabinet to work toward their relatives’ release. “We blocked the airport road for one hour today. We will block it for three hours tomorrow, and after that we will completely block the road. We can't count on Hezbollah or the Amal Movement as they are not responsible for us, but the Lebanese cabinet is,” the families were quoted as saying. The report also said that the families will announce their “official position within a few hours,” adding that they have “received some information about the kidnappers which they may announce to the public.” Eleven pilgrims were kidnapped in Syria on their way home from a pilgrimage to Iran. Most blame Syrian rebel groups for the abduction, though the Free Syrian Army has denied having a role in the kidnappings.
