Security sources have revealed that three Fatah al-Islam members have escaped from Roumieh prison to an unknown destination. Their disappearance came to light during a head count and thus officials cannot determine the date of their escape. The source said the prisoners who escaped are Mohammed Awad Falah (Palestinian, born 1980), Omar Mahmoud Othman (Syrian, born 1986) and Faisal Dawoud Aqla (Algerian, born 1981). An investigation was opened immediately and the search for the prisoners started as soon as their escape was discovered. Roumieh prison includes around 180 Lebanese, Syrian, Jordanian, Palestinian and Tunisian members of Fatah al-Islam, and other Islamist prisoners supporting the organisation as well as other groups they supported by attacking centres of the Lebanese army with explosives and bombs.
