Misrata – Emad Agag

Libyans in Misrata went to polls on Monday four months after the self-appointed city council came to power following the killing of former leader Muammar Gaddafi. Voters on Monday were called to choose 28 new members of the city local council who will oversee the reconstruction of the city. Misrata residents accused the first city council, which was self-appointed and came to power early in the rebellion, of corruption. Monday's elections were the result of a sit-in protest against the council's steps which forced council members to resign and call new elections.
