German police have arrested a German man suspected to have sold a pistol to a gunman who killed nine people in Munich in July, a statement released by Frankfurt state prosecutor said on Wednesday.
Police arrested the 31-year-old man in Marburg, a western German town in the state of Hesse, on Tuesday, according to the statement.
The suspect asserted that he had sold a Glock 17 pistol to the gunman who killed nine people and injured over 20 in July.
The police launched an investigation into the suspect on suspicion of illegal weapons trading. The suspect said he sold the gunman the Glock 17 pistol in Marburg on May 20 and ammunition on July 18.
