The President of the Kurdistan Region Massoud Barzani met here last night with the German Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen, who is currently visiting Iraq.
During a joint press conference with the German Defense Minister Barzani praised the support provided by Germany for the Peshmerga forces, noting that this cooperation will upset the balance of forces in the war against Daesh.
For her part, the German Defense Minister confirmed that her country's assistance to the Kurdistan region of Iraq will continue, pointing out that a new package of military equipment and supplies will arrive soon to the Kurdish Peshmerga forces.
The German Army has already delivered 1,800 tons of weapons and equipment to the Kurds in Iraq, including 20,000 assault rifles and 1,000 anti-tank missiles.
