Prime Minister of the Hamas government in Gaza Ismail Haniyeh denied Egyptian Interior Minister Habib Al-Adly's statement that Hamas interfered in January 25 revolutions to bring about chaos in the country. Haniyeh said after his meeting with Dr. Mohamed Saad Katatni, the Egyptian People’s Assemby Speaker, on Thursday that “Hamas never interfered in Egypt's internal affairs before or after the revolution”. He said that his visit to the People’s Assembly was to congratulate Egypt on the success of its revolution. He described it as a historic visit, and that he conveyed the Palestinian people’s congratulations to Egypt for regaining its role in supporting the Palestinian cause. Haniyeh however added that Jerusalem was still in real danger, and "everyone should bear the responsibility for what is taking place there; judaization and break-ins included." He called for an Arab plan to address the issue. Haniyeh stressed during the meeting that the power crises in Gaza were caused by the Israeli occupation, explaining that there were long term solutions that could radically solve the problem. Haniyeh also denied the existence of any disputes between him and Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal on the new government. He revealed that he held a meeting with Meshaal in Cairo in which they discussed the matter of the government formation. He added that Hamas is united and was not about to split. About his meeting with Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas, he explained that they focussed on reconciliation between the Palestinian factions.
