Hezbollah has refuted the accusations put forward by the US, concerning its funding, as well as the series of lawsuits filed against Shiite figures, accused of money laundering in more than one country worldwide using the Lebanese Canadian Bank, which was sold to Société Générale Bank several months ago following the exposure of money laundry operations. Deputy Secretary General of Hezbollah Sheikh Naeem Qassem said “Unjust accusations against Hezbollah will not work, people will not be fooled by US claims of money laundring and the party’s funding by drug money or such,” stressing that Hezbollah do not believe in resorting to illicit or ‘Haraam’ ways to enhance their mean, saying that everything the US said was untrue , adding “they are nothing but fabricated accusations lacking evidence, and will not affect Hezbollah’s reputation and known position.” A delegation from Jabal Alem Scholars, headed by Sheikh Youssef Daamoush, visited Qassem who spoke of “International and Arab efforts that highlight the sectarian sedition to disrupt the region, derail the Arab revolutions, and break the unity and independence of countries in the region, and attempting to strike the rising Palestinian project in order to please Israel.” He believes that all such attempts should compel them to adhere to their choices and convictions of unity between Muslims within different nations “As it is the effective and influential response,” adding that they “succeeded in thwarting the sectarian sedition in Lebanon, which proves the development of internal immunization facing the US and Israeli plan to create chaos.” He emphasized on the power of “Army and People and Resistance”, believing that Lebanon stays strong “by supporting this equation,” and by not employing it in “failed bets against Syria,” in addition to securing the effectiveness of the government to move forward and deal with people’s social and economic issues.
