Italian police have arrested a 68-year-old man in connection with a bomb attack that killed a student in May, according to news reports. The suspect was identified as Giovanni Vantaggiato, the state prosecutor of the town of Lecce in southern Italy was quoted as saying by national news agency ANSA. The local man 'confessed during questioning' to planting the bomb that detonated outside a vocational school on May 19 in the nearby town of Brindisi, killing 16-year-old student Melissa Bassi and injuring five others, the prosecutor said. The confession did not rule out the possibility that others were involved, the prosecutor said, adding that investigations were still under way. The suspect reportedly acted out of revenge for a case he lost, according to the Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica. He originally intended to target a court near the school.
