Jordan
Amman - Arab Today

Jordan announced a nation-wide security plan on Monday ahead of the parliamentary elections slated for September 20, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

Jordan's Interior Minister Salameh Hammad said operation centers were created across Jordan to ensure a smooth electoral process and prevent any violations that may hamper the process.

The security plan will be implemented in cooperation with all security bodies in the country, the minister added.

The last parliamentary elections in Jordan were held in 2013.

In May, King Abdullah II of Jordan dissolved the Lower House and formed a new government to pave the way for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Of all the 130 seats in parliament, 15 are allocated for women.

Jordan's largest opposition group, the Muslim Brotherhood, has recently decided to compete in the elections.
