Jordan and Russia signed a cooperation agreement in the field of nuclear and radiation safety regulation in peaceful use of atomic energy.
The agreement was signed by Chairman of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulatory Commission Farouq Hiyari and Chairman of the Russian Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service Rostechnadzor Alexey Aleshin.
Under the five-year agreemnt, the two sides will cooperate to develop the legislative basis in the field of nuclear and radiation safety, and exchange of experience in licensing of activities in the field of peaceful use of atomic energy, according to Jordan News Agency (Petra).
They will also exchange experiences in oversight and control activities, including development and implementation of inspection programs.
Under the deal, the two sides will cooperate in areas related to safety regulation in management of radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel, including their transportation and safe storage.
They will also exchange expertise in supervision of accounting and control of nuclear materials, radioactive substances, radioactive waste as well as supervision of physical protection of nuclear installations, radioactive sources, storage facilities, nuclear materials and radioactive substances.
