The new Jordanian Ambassador to Israel, Walid Obeidat, was sworn in before King Abdullah II ON Monday after rejecting threats from his powerful clan not to accept the job. Obeidat's group offered him five million dinars and nominated him as their candidate in the upcoming parliamentary election for the next four rounds. However Obeidat refused their offer. Obeidat’s appointment as Jordanian Ambassador to Israel raised the anger of his clan in Jordan who have threatened to renounce him. Jordanian Foreign Minister, Naser Judeh, considered the acceptance a sacred duty, which raised the anger of Jordanians and the Obeidat clan as they are against promoting "normalisation" with Israel.
