Korea to donate $4m to UNDP to help rebuild Iraq

South Korea has pledged to donate US$4 million to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in order to help rebuild Iraq, the UNDP said, Yonhap news agency reported Tuesday.
In a statement by the UNDP, the donation will be made to the UNDP's Funding Facility for Stabilization (FFS) to be used to reconstruct buildings and infrastructure that have been severely damaged by Daesh.
The agreement signing ceremony was attended by Korean Ambassador to Iraq Song Wong-yeob and the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Iraq Lise Grande.
Grande expressed her gratitude for Korea's support, saying that it will help stabilize Mosul, where Iraq has recently regained control from Daesh. In return, Song promised Korea's full support for the coordinated efforts by the international community and Iraq to rebuild the ravaged city.
This is Korea's fourth donation to the FFS since 2015.
