Beirut - Agencies

Foreign Affairs Minister Adnan Mansour said Thursday ahead of his trip to Cairo that Lebanon would not implement any form of sanctions on its neighbor Syria. “Lebanon will not go along with any kind of sanctions against Syria,” Mansour told Al-Nour radio station. “Any act that constitutes a threat to the unity and security of Syria is unacceptable because it complicates the crisis further and does not end it. What we want is to help Syria out of its crisis and to safeguard its unity and national security,” Mansour said. Speaking to Kataeb-owned Voice of Lebanon radio station, Mansour said that Lebanon's position "is not only the foreign minister’s position but that of Lebanon and the Lebanese government.” “There is agreement at the Cabinet level about this decision because it is in the interest of Lebanon, and our situation is not like that of other states because we have unique ties at the political, humanitarian, economic and security levels.”
