As for the revolution in Libya, Larijani said that the Libyan nation succeeded to put an end to the long-term dictatorship of (Muammar) Gaddafi. The speaker stressed that Gaddafi's arrest and his death 'under such embarrassing circumstances would be a lesson for others.' Iran’s Majlis would assure both Tunisian and Libyan nations … of its support for their awakening movements despite 'political fireworks set off by the US and the West,” stressed the parliamentarian. Elsswhere in his address, Larijani expressed condolences to the people and government of Turkey over the fatal earthquake in that country. He further said that Iran would take due measures to help the quake-stricken people.
