President of the National Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday met Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati on the sidelines of the Organisation for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit in Jeddah. Palestinian sources said that during the meeting, the leaders discussed bilateral relations, regional development, and the stalled peace process with Israel. A prominent member of the Executive Committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation, Saeb Erekat; Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, Mahmoud Habash; Head of General Intelligence, Maj Gen Majed Faraj; the diplomatic advisor to the President, Majdi al Khalidi; and the Palestinian ambassador in Saudi Arabi, Jamal Shobki were all participants to the meeting. Abbas and Mikati are part of the Extraordinary Islamic Summit in Mecca. Meanwhile, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud received in the Safa Palace in Mecca the Prime Minister and Minister of Interiors of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassem bin Jabr, and President Saad Hariri, who had their evening Ramadan meal with the Saudi king.
