The Moroccan Initiative for Support and the Victory and Justice and Development party, called for a protest in solidarity with the Syrian people and in support of the Syrian revolution, in front of the National Council for Human Rights. Demonstrators repeated chants demanding Syrian president to step down, condemning the "massacres" taking place in the Syrian cities, and urging the Moroccan government to expel the Syrian ambassador. The protests coincided with the anniversary of the "massacre" committed by Baath Party regime in Hama in 1982, which claimed the lives of more than 40 thousand people. Meanwhile, the UN Security Council discussed the Syrian crisis, to reach a solution. The Moroccan initiative released a statement blaming Russia for its shameful silence towards the events and asking international and regional organizations, the United Nations, and the Arab League to assume full responsibilities of the massacre. The initiative demanded “immediate action to halt the genocide committed against peaceful people.”
