Israeli TV ‘Channel 2’ nominated the former Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak ,for the award "man of the Year in Israel", to be the first Arab and non-Israeli, to be nominated for this award in Israel. The channel reported that the political and journalistic circles nominated Mubarak for this award, because of his commitment to peace with Israel since he became the president in 1981, while he also worked to implement the provisions of the Treaty, and maintained stability in the region over the past 30 years. The Israeli journalist Odi Siegel explained in the video, broadcasted by the Israeli Channel, that Mubarak had given great service to Israel, and that he must be honored, even if he cannot receive the award. The channel said that Mubarak will still be awarded on his behalf even if he is unable to attend the event. Winners will be announced in January.
