Cairo Criminal Court headed by Judge Ahmed Refaat resumed the trial of ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, of his two sons, Alaa and Gamal and of former Interior Minister Habib El-Adli and six of his top aides , saying that it will announce the date for a final verdict on Wednesday, February 22. On Monday February 20, the court is expected to hear the prosecution's comments on earlier arguments made by the defence. On 22 February, instead, the court is expected to hear the defence team's arguments, along with defendants' comments on the prosecution’s arguments. Mubarak, along with former interior minister Habib El-Adly and six of the latter's assistants, has been charged with instructing subordinates to fire on unarmed protesters during last year's 18-day Tahrir Square uprising. The ousted president, along with his two sons and runaway businessman Hussein Salem, also faces a host of corruption charge. During Thursday's session, the court heard the testimony of General Omar Faramawi, former head of security of the 6th of October district.
