Tens of local and international activists and residents are continuing their open sit-in protest at Khan Al-Ahmar village east of Jerusalem, since yesterday, against the Israeli Supreme Court decision to evacuate and demolish the village.
The secretary of the Fatah movement in Jerusalem, Shadi al-Mutawar, told WAFA that dozens of youths, headed by Jerusalem Governor Adnan Ghaith, were protesting at the village school in order to counter any attempts to demolish the village,
Mutawar said that the Fatah movement and all the national action factions have been working for months to support the steadfastness of the bedouins in the village to confront the attempts of the occupation aimed at displacing them.
The head of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Committee, Walid Assaf, yesterday announced the start of an open sit-in to address the decision to demolish the village and deport its residents.
He called on Palestinian people and factions and the Popular Resistance Committees and all institutions to be present in the village to protect the residents.
Assaf described the decision of the Israeli occupation court as a “declaration of ethnic cleansing against our people.” He pointed out that Israel ended the file and closed it to start a new war in the demolition of houses and the deportation of its residents. This is the first after the Nakba of 1948.
