More than 14,500 Syrians have now fled to Lebanon, Derek Plumbly, the UN special coordinator in Beirut said on Thursday. According to the UNHCR, more than 8,500 displaced Syrians have been registered in north Lebanon and a further 6,000 are receiving support in the Bekaa. Plumbly said: "The cooperation between the UN, led by UNHCR, and the Lebanese authorities under the auspices of the High Relief Council in providing assistance to the displaced, continues to work well." Turkey reported on Thursday that 1000 refugees from Syria had entered its borders in a single day.
