Tuesday's meeting between the head of the Hamas government in Gaza Ismail Haniyeh, and the Egyptian Prime Minister Hisham Qandil was "fruitful", said Haniyeh's spokesperson Taher al-Nunu. Nunu said in a press release that the meeting held in Cairo saw detailed discussions about all the issues related to stopping the hardships suffered by the Palestinian people, and the dangers threatening the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Haniyeh chaired a Palestinian delegation to Egypt which included his political adviser Youssef Rizka, the Interior Minister Fathi Hammad, the Economy Minister Alaa al-Eafati, the Foreign Ministry's Under Secretary Ghazi Hamad, and Nunu himself. Haniyeh's visit to Egypt was previously delayed twice for technical reasons. It is his second visit to Egypt since Mohammed Morsi became president, and the first after the Rafah attacks in which 16 Egyptian border guards were killed in a post close to the border between Egypt and Gaza.
