Syria's state news agency says one of its reporters has been murdered at his home in a suburb of the capital. SANA reported Sunday that Ali Abbas was killed Saturday night at his residence in the Jdaidet Artouz area. The report blamed an "armed terrorist group", which is the regime's catch-all term for its opponents. No further details were released. There have been several attacks on pro-regime media over the course of Syria's 17-month-old uprising against President Bashar Assad. Activists say more than 20,000 people have been killed since the revolt began in March 2011. The conflict has descended into a civil war.
