On Monday, joint security forces in Algeria killed two armed men of al-Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb. According to the security sources, the clashes started in Boukoton forests, north Bordj Bou Arreridj and ended in Zaina forest in Bejaia, lasting four hours. Sources said a violent clash erupted between the army – supported by the national forces – and an armed group of eight people in the area around 6.30 am. Residents of Bouni and Boukoton watched the arrival of intensive national army forces, supported by national security soldiers after an hour of the fire exchange between the armed group and the security forces. Following, the armed group escaped towards the Khanafo forest then to in Zaina heavy forest. The clash stopped about 9.30 am when the army managed to kill two of the armed men who were injured during the first attack, while the rest of the group entered Zaina forest which extends dozens of kilometres. The army forces used advanced equipment and helicopters to comb the area since the early morning. In a related context, a citizen was injured in a fake ambush prepared by an armed group on Bou Nouh road of Boughai district about 50 km south Tizi Ouzou. The armed group asked the citizen to stop, but he didn’t respond as they were not wearing the security uniforms which made him discover the ambush was not real. He tried escaping, but the armed group shot at his car injuring him after which he was taken to the hospital for treatment.
