The Senegalese diplomatic mission arranged a visit to Mauritania’s civil prison Tuesday to oversee the conditions of Senegalese prisoners. This move is aimed at enriching prisons with various activities and initiatives in order to improve the psychological state and conditions for their prisoners. Moreover, it is an opportunity for the prisoners to have contact with their consulates, which can follow up their legal, administrative and social positions. The Senegalese diplomatic mission chose a civil prison in Dar Naim, a province of the capital Nouakchott. The diplomats brought gifts to the Senegalese prisoners under the supervision of the first counsellor in Senegal's embassy in Noukchott, Mamadou Bamba Loo, who was accompanied by a delegation that included the Senegalese embassy, consulate staff and representatives of the Senegalese community living in Mauritania. The visit was also attended by Director of prisons, Sheikh Mohammed Mahmoud Ould Ayhah, members of Criminal Affairs Department and the leader of prisons’ security in Mauritania.
