Nouakchott - Mohammad Sharif Abeidy

The single survivor of the Diabali massacre returned to Mauritania and was received by the Mauritanian Foreign Minister, Hamadi Ould Hamadi at the airport. Mouloud Ould al Sayyed Ahmad was the only survivor of the massacre which was committed by Malian security against Mauritanian Muslim preachers. The Minister was accompanied by members of the Daawa and the Tabligh group as well as members of the survivor’s family. Mouloud Ould al Sayyed Ahmad appreciated the role and efforts of the Mauritanian authorities to bring him home and praised the Mauritanian embassy in Mali. The Foreign Minister, Hamadi Ould Hamadi said: “It is well known that the message carried out by our fathers and grandfathers in spreading Islam around the world, which our brother the virtuous preacher was doing, is a tough mission where they met many difficulties. It’s very rare that a Mauritanian works abroad without taking as well the duty of spreading this religion.”
