NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Monday held talks with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry at NATO headquarters on the implications of Britain's decision to leave the European Union and the agenda of upcoming Warsaw Summit.
They agreed that Britain's important role in NATO will remain unchanged, according to a NATO statement.
Stoltenberg said, "NATO has become even more important as a platform for cooperation between Europe and North America, but also defense and security cooperation between European NATO Allies."
"Cooperation between NATO and the EU has always been important, but it's even more important now after the decision of the United Kingdom," he added.
They also discussed the next week's Warsaw Summit, where NATO leaders will take important decisions to enhance collective defense and deterrence, step up efforts to project stability beyond NATO's borders, the statement said.
