Sudanese president assistant, Nafie Ali Nafie, has congratulated Yemen's politicians on the peaceful transition of power and was briefed on the steps to be taken by Yemen to achieve stability. Nafie, who is currently on a visit to Yemen, held Friday talks with a group of Yemen's political parties in the capital Sanaa, which focused on national dialogue and development of situations in the country. Supreme Council member and secretary general of the Nasrist Unionist Party, Sultan Al-Attabani, told Sudan News Agency SUNA that the meeting with the Sudanese delegation centered around national dialogue in Yemen, adding that Yemeni political forces stressed the need for restructuring the army and security and to address economic issues. He said they were also briefed on the situation in the Sudan. On Thursday, Yemeni prime minister, Mohamed Salem Basanda, affirmed his country’s full support of Sudan, describing the relationship between the two countries as "historic, firm and distinguished." He said that the coming months will witness more cooperation between the sister countries. During his two-day visit to Yemen Nafie also met with Yemen’s president Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi to convey the Sudanese president’s congratulations on the success of the presidential election. Hadi reviewed with Nafie the political progress achieved since holding an early presidential election on February 21, stressing that Yemen has transcended the difficult challenges and avoided war and division through cooperation and consensus. “We talked before it was too late to get out of the log-jam” Hadi said, adding that all political powers were keen to uphold the integrity of the country and move from conflict to the negotiating table. In a press statement, Nafie said that Yemen was a sister and friend to Sudan, indicating that Sudan would welcome seeing Yemen enjoy stability and peace.
