Director General of Sudanese Civil Aviation Mohamed Abdel Aziz submitted his resignation to the Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir. It is believed that the resignation is related to the plane crash incident which killed the Sudanese Minister of Religious affairs in Talodi in the state of South Kordofan on the first day of Eid al-Fitr. A number of ministers of state, military leaders and security accompanied him. A source in the Authority said that the resignation was delivered to the Council of Ministers on Tuesday morning. Nevertheless, it remains unknown whether it was accepted or not. The source pointed out that the Authority will witness changes in its structure after Eid al-Fitr and is awaiting to appoint a director for the authority and another to be responsible for the services sector. The source remarked to Arabstoday that the reason behind the resignation is the plane crash incident not the changes that will take place in the aviation Authority structure, which are often issued by presidential or ministerial decrees.
