Khartoum - Abed Algayom Ashmeag

Sudanese intelligence and security forces in Kassala state were able to capture a network smuggling people into Israel. According to the Sudanese Media Center, a Sudanese security source said that officers in Kassala state bordering Eritrea "were able to capture a network of people smugglers". "We found with them four Eritreans who were being prepared for transport to Israel," the source said, adding that officers also recovered firearms, ammunition, satellite telephones and documents. The source pointed out that this network includes Sudanese, Egyptians, Eritreans, and Ethiopians, who send people to Israel to find jobs; sometimes they transport them by force; they are people trafficking. At the same context, Salah Barquin, Beja Congress Party spokesman told ‘Arabstoday’ that this is one of the disturbing news for Sudan, like carrying out the Egyptian elections in Halayeb. For his part, Rabie Abdul Atti, a senior official in Sudan’s ruling party said that Sudanese tribes cannot be accused of kidnapping people, as those tribes are known of their norms and values that respect the human dignity, stressing that the Sudanese authorities are following the case.
