Algerian military forces have killed two militant fighters belonging to Al-Qaeda Organisation in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). The two fighters were killed in the region of the Sidi Ali Monab mountain range in the province of Tizi Ouzou (100km east of Algiers). A security source told Arabstoday that an armed clash took place between the fighters and army's soldiers around 7pm on Tuesday, after security forces received information about "terrorist" activities in this region. The source also said that the operation resulted in the retrieval of two Klashenkof rifles. The source added that search operations were to be continued in the tribal-populated region between Boumerdas and Tizi Ouzou.
