The British minister for international development, Stephen O'Brien , confirmed that his visit to Sudan is considered to be the first official visit, and the second one to the minister, during the last five months, which confirms “ the British commitment to support Sudan to be a free modern country.” The minister said that he met with Al-Haj Adam Yousif, the vice president, Jalal Yousif Alduqeer, International cooperation minister, Mohammed Khair Al-Zubair, governor of the Central Bank in Sudan. He explained that he discussed with officials the British-Sudanese relations and explored ways to strengthen it. The minister confirmed that “the UK full support to the Peace efforts, and South Sudan’s president, Thabo Mbeki ‘s efforts to achieve solutions to the continuous internal clashes.” O'Brien said that he “will meet with businessmen, international institutions representatives and a number of ministers, and will concentrate particularly on the issue of the people in south Sudan, who are obliged to leave the country, he will also visit Kesty city. The British minister has also announced that his country will offer 4.8 million pounds to support the emergency operations of the World Food Program, which will affect 315.000 people in south Sudan. This came in a conference held by the British minister, Stephen O'Brien, in the British embassy in Khartoum, with the presence of Nicolas Kay, the British ambassador in Sudan and a number of officials, in addition to the World Food Program’s Director in Sudan.
