The UN Refugee Agency has announced a breakdown by camp of Syrian refugee numbers which total 44,000 overall. Ceylanpinar near the border crossing to the Syrian town of Ra's al-'Ayn is the largest (13,337) followed by Hatay (10,808), Kilis (12,032) and Gaziantep (7,502). Lebanon, Jordan and Iraqi Kurdistan have also opened camps to house and feed those fleeing the escalating conflict. The total who have fled equals 200,000 according to the UNHCR. Camps in Iraqi Kurdistan have been accused of mistreatment and imprisonment of refugees after internation condemnation forced Iraq to re-open the Syrian border.
