The United States army's chief-of-staff, General Martin Dempsey, arrived at the Jordanian capital, Amman, on Sunday, in preparation for the "Eager Lion" military exercises, planned to be held in Jordan next month. Over 8000 soldiers from 17 countries are expected to participate in the exercise. Dempsey discussed the security procedures of the exercises with some Jordanian security heads. The military showcase, the biggest ever to be hosted by Jordan, have raised questions about their timing, taking into account recent conditions in Syria and calls of some Arab and European countries for a military intervention to end violence against civilians.
