The Organising Committee of the Popular Youth Revolution on Friday called for rallies under the slogan “A promise to revolutionary martyrs that we will put their murderers on trial”, in conjunction with the first anniversary of the massacre of the "Friday of Dignity". The "Friday of Dignity" represents the beginning of the collapse of former Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh's regime after it brutally suppressed a peaceful protest held after the weekly Friday prayer in Sanaa's Sahet Al-Taghyeer’(Yard of Change). At least 60 were killed and hundreds injured at the hands of snipers loyal to Saleh. The Organising Committee also announced the launch of a new phase of the revolution to achieve its objectives, starting on Sunday by celebrating the first anniversary of the massacre. It called on revolutionaries and Yemenis to mobilise for the peaceful revolution and get prepared for the next stage of the revolution. The committee demanded that new President Abdrabuh Mansour Hadi in his capacity as the Supreme Commander of Armed Forces free military and security forces from the control of the former president’s relatives. It also called upon all political powers participating in the national consensus government to determine their relationship with the ruling General People Congress Party (GPC), which Saleh still heads.
