Two gunmen with links to al-Qaeda in Yemen assassinated a security official in the province of Hadramaut. Sources told Arabstoday that two gunmen on a motorcycle killed Captain Majid Matir, from the special security services department, after shooting him whilst he was in his car. Yemen's defence ministry confirmed the incident, adding that Matir was shot dead near his home as he was on his way to the office. There has been an influx in the number of al-Qaeda assassinations targeting security and military members as well as intelligent forces within the past two years as the country continues in its efforts to annihilate terrorism.
