A Marine Corps corporal went on a shooting spree at a seaside unit on Ganghwa Island, west of Seoul, on Monday, killing three and wounding two, a military official said. The shooter, identified only as Kim, was also injured in the incident, South Korea''s News Agency (Yonhap) reported. The official said the shooting took place inside the barracks of the Marine Corps unit on the southern part of the island, close to the maritime border with North Korea. The victims included a staff sergeant, a corporal and a lance corporal, while the injured were two corporals, including the shooter, and a private, the official said. "The shooter himself sustained a minor injury," the official said. "The injured received first aid and were taken to a nearby hospital." Marine Corps officials are scheduled to hold a press conference at the defense ministry on Monday to provide more details.
