Moscow - Ria Novosti

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad rejected the U.S. accusations of a plot to assassinate Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the United States, Iranian state news agency IRNA reported on Sunday. Speaking in parliament, Ahmadinejad called the accusation “the U.S. latest anti-Iran scenario. “The U.S. officials were trying to create a new crisis for Iran and this time they are accusing the country of terrorism. But they should understand that terrorism is the job of uncultured people,” IRNA quoted Ahmadinejad as saying. Ahmadinejad said the cultured nation of Iran had no need to embark on assassination. “Assassination belongs to you,” Ahmadinejad said, addressing U.S. officials. Ahmadinejad said all the pressures currently being exerted on Iran were aimed at preventing its progress. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder announced on Wednesday that they had uncovered a plot to assassinate Saudi Ambassador Adel al-Jubeir in Washington. He said that the plot was prepared by two men linked to the Iranian government. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said that high-ranking members of the Quds Force, the elite special operations unit of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, not only knew about the plot, but took part in it. Tehran has denied the allegations. UK Foreign Secretary William Hague said on Thursday to the House of Commons that the alleged plot “would appear to constitute an escalation of Iran’s sponsorship of terrorism overseas”.
