An Arab League (AL) spokesman expressed on Sunday his astonishment after the pan-Arab body was not invited by the French government to a Paris-hosted ministerial meeting on the Libyan crisis.
Mahmoud Afifi said the AL will continue its efforts to reach a political settlement of the Libyan crisis, pointing out to the ongoing efforts exerted by the Arab League to achieve reconciliation in Libya.
AL Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit has exerted strenuous efforts during his participation in the international meeting that was held in New York City on September 22 on the Libyan crisis, Afifi noted.
From this point, the AL was expected to be invited for the meeting which will kick off Monday in Paris, Afifi concluded.
